The Burnie Historical Society, established in 1995, is dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the rich history of the Burnie region and its people. Our mission includes gathering, recording, collating, and storing historical information to ensure it is preserved for future generations.

We actively encourage and support the identification and preservation of historical buildings, monuments, landmarks, and relics within the area. Our society is committed to promoting the restoration and preservation of items of historical significance.

We also strive to promote historical interest as a tourism attraction for the Burnie area, showcasing the unique heritage and stories of our community through public events, functions, and displays.

Donated materials play a vital role in our efforts to preserve local history. Any material generously donated to us is redirected to our museum, where it is carefully preserved for posterity, ensuring that it remains accessible for research, education, and appreciation by the community.
